Pratt Livestock, Inc., Pratt, Kansas is the largest livestock auction in the state of Kansas, and the second largest livestock auction in the United States, averaging 6,500 cattle per sale, for a yearly total of 330,000 cattle. An average sale will last 7 - 8 hours, and when we are selling feeder cattle, we will sell up to 1,000 head per hour. The number of consignors and buyers for any given sale will vary from 100 - 175 each.

When our computer system became antiquated we looked at several different programs before deciding on Genesys. Pratt Livestock required a system that was fast, user friendly, and would adapt to the way we sold livestock. Plus, we didn't have a lot of time to replace everything and learn to use the Genesys program since the sales continued every week.

John and Mick arrived at Pratt Livestock with an air of professionalism and knowledge that put everyone at ease. The both had the patience of Job, a ready smile, and a pat on the back when we figured it all out. The support from Genesys has to be their biggest selling point. They are available 24 hours a day and can readily walk us through any problem or go into the system and correct our mistakes, because they truly understand the livestock auction business.

No system can be absolutely perfect, and we have found a few things we would like changed. The Genesys people are working to make these changes for us. Some of them may not be possible, but if they keep trying, that is all we can ask.

Overall, the Genesys system has been a definite improvement over our old system, by cutting time on task and personnel required to run the program, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for state of the art computer software.
